Inside the Hanover 387:
A Closer Look at Hanover Yachts' Bestseller
The Hanover 387 by Hanover Yachts of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, packs an impressive list of features, facilities, and value into its sleek, modern 38-foot hull. Unsurprisingly, this has made the 387 the company's most popular model, with its outboard-powered variant being the most specified option. Step aboard with us for a full walkthrough of this versatile boat. Find out why the Hanover 387 has earned the admiration of so many buyers, and why it deserves your full attention, too.
At the Stern: Your Personal Beach Club
The Hanover 387's stern makes a strong impression right from the outset, thanks to its expansive swim platform that leads to a class-leading additional fold-out beach club deck to starboard. Regardless of whether you opt for inboard or outboard power, the 387's beach club creates an inviting space for relaxing at the water's edge. A telescopic swim ladder, installed on the starboard rear quarter, allows for comfortable access in and out of the water.
The 387 is perfectly equipped for waterside entertaining, too. Buyers who opt for the 387's Premium Package will benefit from a fully-equipped wet bar. Installed on the port side of the cockpit and facing the stern, the wet bar features a Kenyon electric grill alongside a prep bowl equipped with a fresh water faucet. The Premium Package also comes with a set of two bar stools that drop into place in the swim platform, coupled with a timber-topped picnic table that also simply drops into place, creating creating an easy, social dining space.
Rounding out the stern is a comfortable lounge seat with a backrest that can adjust for you to face either aft or forward. It's the perfect place to enjoy a waterside sundowner or to relax and watch the world go by.
Salon & Helm Station: Your Waterfront Lounge
Entering the Hanover 387's salon feels more like stepping into a waterfront lounge than a typical 38-footer. Since this model does not have side decks, the lounge occupies the boat's entire, wide beam. To port, a spacious L-shaped sofa extends from the stern almost all the way to the bow, creating an open, comfortable space for your whole crew to relax and socialize. An additional, smaller lounge seat to starboard faces the port seating, while underneath it you'll find a cleverly concealed refrigerator drawer for your drinks and refreshments. Several drinks holders are scattered around the lounge for ultimate convenience.
A folding teak dinette table is included as standard, giving you a space to enjoy lunch with your crew or a game with the kids. Various storage areas are also available throughout the lounge, keeping your valuables safe, dry and out of sight.
Helm Station
The helm station aboard the Hanover 387 is designed to put all of the yacht's essential controls right at the captain's fingertips. The centerpiece of the helm station is an Italian leather steering wheel finished with polished chrome spokes. It's the kind of wheel that makes you want to grasp it, point the nose to the horizon, and push the throttles forward.
Behind the steering wheel are two Simrad MFDs, available in 7" as standard or 9" optionally. The throttles fall effortlessly to hand on the right, while a bank of illuminated switches gives the captain immediate control over all of the boat's systems.
Windshield wipers are included on the tempered glass windshield as standard, ensuring a clear view over the bow under all conditions, while a 1000w electric windlass system with a 10kg anchor and 40m of chain are also standard across both of the 387's trim levels, for maximum convenience.
The Cabin: Luxurious Accommodation for Four
Step into the Hanover 387's cabin through the lockable acrylic sliding door, and you will find a bright, airy cabin space designed for extended comfort onboard. Starting in the bow, a roomy double bed-size berth for two adults is ready to rock you to sleep to the sound of the water lapping against the hull. Meanwhile, bedside hull windows to port and starboard give you a prime view of the ocean as you wake up.
To port, a kitchenette features an engineered granite top with space for an optional microwave, induction stove and fridge (all included as standard in the Premium trim option). To starboard, inside the fully-equipped head compartment you will find an electric head equipped with a macerator. A separate shower with a mixer tap is installed alongside so you can wash off the salt water and freshen up, ready for another day of cruising.
Rear Berth
An aft cabin with a generous double berth is located aft of the head compartment. Unlike so many competing motor yachts, the big hull windows to both port and starboard allow plenty of natural light in, which really makes this berth feel light and airy, especially versus so many other aft cabins in competitor boats that make you feel like you're crawling into a cave.
The aft cabin includes a small sofa, useful when dressing or in-between other tasks. Recessed LED mood lighting is fitted along the aft bulkhead, further enhancing the cabin’s warm, relaxed atmosphere.
The whole cabin area - forward and aft combined - features a 12,000 BTU air-conditioning system as standard, ensuring comfortable overnight stays regardless of the weather.
Up on the Bow
The bow area is conveniently accessed via a large folding windshield section to port. Here, you'll find a very spacious dual-tone upholstery sun pad, with ample room for three adults to stretch out and soak up the sun. The sun pad also includes an upholstered pad sitting over the forward cabin's hatch, that can be quickly removed to allow the sun to filter into the cabin below.
And finally, the cherry on top of the bow section is a teak dolphin seat mounted securely to the bow rail. This is an ideal spot from which to socialize with your crew as they enjoy the sun pad, or just sip on a cocktail while you watch the sun setting.
Power Options
The Hanover 387 by Hanover Yachts is powered by your choice of either inboard or outboard engines. To date, the majority of 387 models have been specified with outboard power, which reflects broader trends in the boating industry.
Buyers who opt for outboard power have the choice of either twin Mercury DTS 300HP V8s as standard, or Twin Mercury Verado 350HP V10s on the Premium package. The Verados include joystick piloting - a hugely popular option amongst all Verado customers.
Should you prefer inboard power, you would have the choice of twin Mercury Mercruiser Axius 300HP B3s in the standard specification, or you can upgrade to twin Mercruiser Axius 350hp engines, which also include joystick controls.
Whichever engine configuration you choose, the Hanover 387 delivers confident, responsive performance on the water.
