On the Cover: Cruising into the Future
The new Greenline 40 Electric redefines sustainable yachting
Marking a new milestone for sustainable yachting, YachtSalesInternational.com proudly announces the first-ever North American, 100% electric Greenline 40 yacht. This fully electric production model was developed in collaboration with Ingenity Electric, a US-based leader in marine electrification and part of the Correct Craft family of companies. Featuring Ingenity’s 135 kW twin-motor mCrate propulsion system, the Greenline 40 Electric delivers seamless, silent cruising with cutting-edge technology and reduced environmental impact.
Tradition and experience means a great deal in boat building, and every facet of this model showcases experience as well as ingenuity. As a global leader in sustainable yachting, Greenline Yachts offers a full range of hybrid and electric-powered yachts from 39 to 58 feet. Built by some of the most skilled and experienced craftsmen, the designs of these vessels are based on centuries of local boatbuilding tradition, and over half a century of composite boatbuilding experience.
“At YachtSalesInternational.com, our mission has always been to connect discerning buyers with innovative solutions that align with their values,” adds Udo Willersinn, co-founder of YachtSalesInternational.com. “The Greenline 40 Electric is a perfect example of how we can deliver cutting-edge technology, uncompromising comfort, and a reduced environmental footprint in one extraordinary yacht.”
Every Greenline has solar panels and AC power onboard at all times as standard, with the upgrade of additional solar panels on the T-top available on other Greenline models like the 45 Fly and 48 Fly. Regardless of whether you choose the H-Drive system or a standard diesel drive, your Greenline can collect and store power from the sun, utilizing highly efficient solar panels on the hardtop thereby producing plenty of electricity to power all systems including home appliances with 230V or 120V AC power to make your living onboard as pleasant and convenient as possible.
“This yacht is the result of true collaboration between a customer with vision, a boatbuilder committed to sustainability, and a propulsion partner at the forefront of marine innovation,” says Willersinn. “With the Greenline 40 Electric, we’re not just delivering a boat—we’re delivering the future of yachting.”
One of the best inclusions, rooted in the construction of the vessel, lies at boat’s core: the Ingenity propulsion system. Ingenity Electric is a pioneer in high-performance electric propulsion systems for marine applications. Combining cutting-edge battery technology, smart integration, and remote diagnostics, Ingenity is accelerating the transition to zero-emission boating.
“Ingenity’s Twin Drive mCrate System is such a great match for the Greenline 40. The engine room layout allows abundant space for the installation, and as we already know, the hull is a proven efficient design,” says Capt. Todd Sims, Director of Ingenity Electric.
The hybrid hull has evolved from the Greenline signature hull design called Superdisplacement, which incorporates some of the properties of a modern sailing boat hull in that it moves through the water with the least amount of drag and exceeds the theoretical speed of the hull, which is determined by the length of the waterline. The hybrid hull is a natural evolution, as it enables cruising at higher speeds while still maintaining optimal consumption and stability at lower cruising speeds. This makes the yacht ideal for sailing on everything inland or coastal rivers or lakes, as well as ocean cruising with relatively calm waters.
“The first time I stepped aboard, I was struck by the silence,” says a recent sea trial participant. “We cruised along without a hint of vibration or engine noise—it’s a completely different boating experience.”
Powered by two 135kW continuous electric motors and three 63kWh lithium NMC battery packs, other Greenline 40 Electric technical features include:
189kWh total capacity at 400V
10kW onboard Level 2 charging with DC fast charge capability up to 132kW
Advanced thermal management system with heat pump for optimal performance
Remote telematics and over-the-air updates via the Ingenity Connect app
With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and comfort, Greenline has revolutionized the boating industry by integrating alternative propulsion technologies into award-winning designs. The 40 model is no exception; this yacht’s electric drivetrain eliminates emissions, reduces maintenance, and offers a quiet, vibration-free ride—making it ideal for eco-conscious cruising on the southern Atlantic Coast and beyond. “We believe electric and hybrid yachts aren’t a niche—they’re the future,” says Willersinn. “By bringing models like the Greenline 40 Electric to North America, we’re helping to write the next chapter in yachting history.”
