Southeast Sweeps in National Rankings for Best Fall Foliage Lake Location
BoatBooker built the ranking by scoring lakes nationwide on how good they actually are for a fall foliage boat trip: how much public boat-ramp access is nearby, whether the leaves are actually turning at the right time (confirmed by satellite data, not a guess), and how easy the lake is to reach.
"Mid-October puts it right in the heart of peak season,” says Vukan Simic, CEO of BoatBooker, making fall a great time to get out on the water, “with plenty of water access to actually get out and see it."

Methodology
BoatBooker scored 16 finalist lakes nationwide across four weighted categories: Boat Access (U.S. Geological Survey public boat-ramp data within a 20-mile radius), City Proximity (Census Bureau population data and drive-time routing), Foliage Timing Fit (satellite-derived autumn vegetation data from the USA National Phenology Network), and Recognizability (independently published lake-awareness data). Every lake had to have a satellite-confirmed foliage peak within Sept 15–Nov 15 to even qualify.
