Coming Full Circle
Bluewater Academy announces a new 2026 sailing program.
Bluewater Academy, in collaboration with Bluewater Escapes, recently announced the launch of Full Circle, a seasonal sailing experience aboard an Excess 14 performance catamaran, beginning May 15.
Full Circle is a continuous, seasonally-driven sailing program designed to follow ideal conditions while giving participants the opportunity to gain real offshore experience in a structured and professionally guided environment.
The journey begins in Punta Gorda, Florida, and will head north to Newport, aligning with the Newport-to-Bermuda Race. From there, the vessel will spend the summer sailing throughout the Northeast, exploring both coastal and offshore routes shaped by Atlantic conditions. In October, Full Circle will be present at the Annapolis Boat Show before continuing south, ultimately arriving in the Caribbean for the winter season.
At its core, Full Circle is about experience through participation. An educational framework is integrated into every leg through Bluewater Academy, creating a natural learning environment at sea. Skills developed throughout the voyage include:
• Night sailing and watch standing
• Coastal and offshore navigation
• Offshore passage planning
• Sail handling across varying conditions
• Systems awareness and onboard safety
• International waters experience
The Excess 14 platform was intentionally selected for this program. Known for its balance of performance and comfort, it features twin aft helms, a responsive sail plan, and hulls engineered for offshore stability. This allows for confident passage-making while maintaining a modern, comfortable onboard environment.
The program is designed to be inclusive, welcoming singles, couples, friends, families, and age-appropriate young sailors who share an interest in learning and being part of an active sailing environment. Participants may join individual legs or multiple segments, allowing flexibility for those looking to build experience over time or simply take part in a single meaningful passage.
